Air France & KLM Launch In-Flight Wi-Fi Trial

Air France and KLM launched its inflight Wi-Fi on two Boeing 777-300 flights to New York  (AF12) and Panama (KL757) respectively.  Now customers can remain connected via their mobile phones, smartphones, laptops or tablets with the world by text messages, email messages, watching live television and surfing the internet.

Air France and KLM has partnered Panasonic Avionics in a trial phase throughout the rest of this year on the two aircraft.   The service is available at a fixed rate on all class of travel on several long-haul destinations during the trial at EUR 10.95 per hour or EUR 19.95 for the full flight payable by credit card.  Mobile phone usage for text and data will be billed to the phone users according to their own roaming agreements.   Customers have access to the inflight website for free.

Customers can use the wireless service once the aircraft has reached 20,000 feet shortly after take-off.

The aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi for KLM will also fly to Bangkok, Sao Paolo, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur/Jakarta, Lima, Panama, Singapore/Denpasar, Taipei/Manila and Quito/ Guayaquil.

The Air France aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi will also fly to Washington, Dubai, Houston, China, Narita, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong.
