Scoot has named its sixth Boeing 777-200 aircraft “Bo-eng Boeing”, joining Goin’ Scootin’, Barry, Big Yella Fella, Maju-lah and Scootilicious in mid November 2013. The aircraft is expected to fly the inaugural flight from Singapore to Hong Kong and another yet to be announced destination.
Why Bo-eng Boeing
Bo-eng is derived from the Hokkien dialect which means “super busy”. Bo-eng Boeing will be kept busy operating Scoot’s flights to Qingdao, Shenyang and Tianjin.
The name was derived from Singapore satirical website SGAG which casually speculated what Scoot’s next aircraft would be called. Scoot picked out the suggestion because it is Singaporean, quirky and a nice alliterative homophone with Boeing.
