The Pantene Pro-V Hair Strength Tonic #pantenedifference

Make a #PanteneDifference

Now and then, we wake up with the dreaded bed head; all frizzy and rejecting all our efforts of looking even remotely decent. Moreover, it doesn’t help one bit that we are living in one of the most humid tropical countries in the world! I am no stranger to this, and believe me when I say I can have a major hair emergency; thoroughly damaged hair through constant bleaching and re-colouring of my hair has given me a whole lot of frustration (electric blue hair comes at a price).

I am sure everyone is familiar with the makeup product known as the BB cream, coveted by Korean celebrities. Pantene has brought this concept to hair care; aiming to combine styling with 10 treatment benefits. It promises to prevent breakage, split ends and give us the smooth, manageable crowning glory that we all crave for with their newly released multi-functional Total Damage Care 10 BB Crème for Hair (S$9.90) and hair fall control Pro-V Hair Strength Tonic (S$7.95).

I was more than happy to attend the launch for these products.

Beauty comes from within. Therefore, Pantene went an extra step with this new product containing Pro-V formula infused with Vitamin B3. It promises to penetrate the hair at a structural level, nourishing each strand. Of course to do that, you need to do more than just spritzing it on your hair. You need to massage every drop in – and, unfortunately, if my cooking skills say anything, I do not have the coordination to do so. I guess Pantene saw that in me, and decided I needed a little lesson. From no one other than one of the most experienced, and I must say personable, hairstylist and makeup artist, Andrea Claire.

She gave us amazing tips on how to do a daunting task with simple steps. Simply, spray the product 10 to 15 times directly onto the scalp (wet or dry) and start going to town with your fingertips near the root area. Her number one tip was to maintain contact, with emphasis on the pressure points (the base of the back of your head). This only takes a minute – a quick improvement we can all easily squeeze into our daily regime.

Like its name, it carries the very same combination of cyclomethicone, quaternium-80 (coconut oil) and propylene glycol used in Olay BB creams (aimed to give softness to the skin), which in this case, tames our nemesis, the frizz. On top of that, it has the benefit of detangling and moisturising – think of it as a leave-in conditioner.

The difference? It uses a water-based formula that left my hair feeling fresh, and not making my hair oily and flat. What this ultimately means is, I can use it throughout the day; not only to smoothen out my locks (a constant battle I face while working for hours in a freezing air-conditioned office), but also to use it as a last minute styling option.

Without question, I have given several products a try to nurse my fried hair back to health. I could see the benefits in just a week (but I must say I was very vigilant, and stuck to the regime everyday), and the versatility to use it throughout the day has gotten me out of several hair emergencies before a dinner date.

I do recommend those with bleached and coloured hair to give this a try and see for yourself what it can do to tame damaged hair. It does not eat away at the colour of my hair – my number one priority. We spent so much on our coloured locks, and I am sure you don’t want it to fade prematurely! While I would appreciate it if they had a smaller take away bottle for me to bring around in my bag, the current 135ml sized bottle serves me well sitting on my office table. Regardless, this is a good product at an inexpensive price, and I will definitely be purchasing another in the future.

The new Pantene Pro-V Total Damage Care BB Crème for Hair (S$9.90 for 135ml) and Pantene Pro-V Hair fall Control Hair Strength Tonic (S$7.95 for 95ml) are now available at all leading supermarkets and pharmacies in Singapore.
