When I was wee child, I had Sleeping Beauty going on in the background, and as a fresh 24 year old, I use my niece as an excuse to put “For the First Time in Forever” from Tangled on repeat. Deny it all you want, I am not the only person who is still in love with the enchanting fairy tales Disney has given us over the years.
This July, fans will get to experience that magic like never before right in Singapore – the incredibly successful Disney on Classic ~ A Magical Night will be brought to life by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, conducted by legendary Disney Music Maestro Brad Kelley.
Available for two nights only, on the 16th and 17th July 2015 at The Star Performing Arts Centre, it will blend soaring notes with original footage from classic Disney Movies, including Snow White, Cinderella, Tangled, Frozen, and, even, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on a cinematic screen suspended overhead. The majestic experience is made more immersive thanks to the dramatic lighting and staging effects – a musical adventure memorable for the whole family.
The Next Princess Anna
Dreams can really come true this time round as the orchestra is looking for their next young Princess Anna from Disney’s big hit movie, Frozen. From the 4th to the 17th of May 2015, the orchestra and producers will be holding open auditions for female singers, aged 5 to 15, to mark the Japan-born show’s first foray into Southeast Asia. Up to two “princesses” will be joining the ranks of eight international singers, to make our favourite Disney moments come alive with an extra sprinkling of magic.
Tickets for Disney on Classic ~ A Magical Night has started going on sale on the 29th April 2015 on SISTIC. Ticket prices range from S$35 to S$165, excluding the S$4 SISTIC booking free.
