David Beckham was here in Singapore over the weekend to conduct a football clinic with beneficiaries from SportCares Singapore, Special Olympics, Deaf Sports Association (Singapore) and Bedok Youth Society for the Disabled at Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza. It was a dream come true for the 90 participants to have an up close interaction with Beckham. Amongst the participants included underprivileged youth, youth-at-risk and people with different disabilities, ranging from cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and hearing impairment.
For the upcoming Sands for Singapore Festival by Marina Bay Sands happening on 1 to 3 August 2014, Beckham presented and signed a pair of boots as the final auction item for ‘Celebrities Give Back to Singapore’ auction. Last year’s inaugural Sands for
Singapore Festival helped raise over $3.6 million of donations to Marina Bay Sands’ charity partners, BT Budding Artist Fund and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
The stellar list of celebrities that contribute to this year’s auction will include Victoria Beckham, Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Eva Longoria, RAIN, Jackie Chan, as well as sportsmen Rio Ferdinand and Manny Pacquiao.
The contributed items of the celebrities are now showcased near the concierge next to the Skating Rink at The Shoppes for Marina Bay Sands until 3 August 2014. Items will be displayed in showcases with plates presenting information such as their respective lot number and the bidding mechanism. Seven items, including Beckham’s football boots, will also go under the hammer during a live auction at The Business Times Dream Ball on 1 August 2014.
Corporates and individuals are invited to put in bids for the one-of-a-kind auction items from today via this link.
