This morning Hello Kitty celebrated her 40th birthday with the inaugural Hello Kitty Run at Sentosa in Singapore. 17,000 avid fans turned up for the race and to catch Dear Daniel presenting Hello Kitty a bouquet of flowers and a 33 inch cupcake. The 17,000 race participants sang Hello Kitty a birthday song. Unfortunately the weather was not so kind to Hello Kitty as rain poured just as the run started.

At 8am this morning, Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel flagged off the race. Participants of the race were dressed in the red and white Hello Kitty Run tee shirt.
Post race, there was a live performance by Shili and Adi, a fashion show featuring Hello Kitty themed apparels as well as sand-castle building activities.
Organisers had problems with crowd control and finishing medal distribution and some of the participants feared that they would not be able to get theirs as some participants got more than they were entitled to. Read about that in Dejiki.com.
