Singaporeans love food, and our very culture revolves around them. We meet for food, with food or (at least try to) make food. Anything from Indian curries and pratas to Bak Chor Mee is part of our identity and there is no better place to celebrate that than with the 2015 The Balestier Heritage Makan Race!

Jointly organised by Ramada and Days Hotels Singapore at Zhongshan Park and Web In Travel (WIT), it will be held on 4 July 2015 with a focus on the rich, food heritage in one of Singapore’s most historic areas. Teams of two to six, from various walks of life (as long as you love food!) will be going on foot to uncover 14 food-related stops in the area amazing race-style.

Whether you are a veteran foodie or just wanting to learn more about Singapore’s local favourites, it is sure to be a hoot of a time deciphering clues, completing challenges and collecting stamps from the station marshals. Besides giving yourself a pat on the back after completing all the challenges, you will even stand a chance to walk away with cash prizes of S$500, S$1,000 and S$1,500 in the Winners’ Draw! There will also be novelty prizes for “Most Social”, “Most Tam Chiak” and “Most Poetic”, so don’t forget to update your FB or Instagram as you chomp away on what Balestier Road has to offer.

The entry fee is S$38 per person, with every cent going towards the Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home just like last year. Those wanting to do more for the home can also pledge their donation towards a participating team. It is a feel good challenge that gets everyone moving, reminding and re-discovering some of Singaporean’s favourite spots (especially for chicken rice)!
