GREY GOOSE VX – Authentic & Innovative

GREY GOOSE VX Vodka
GREY GOOSE Vodka announces the introduction of their new spirit consisting of 95% Vodka and 5% Cognac; the GREY GOOSE VX.

Premium French vodka brand, Grey Goose proudly launched their new Grey Goose Vodka ExceptionnelleGGVX – in Singapore this April. This exclusive vodka will be Grey Goose’s new weapon against the overcrowded vodka (flavoured or not) market, by introducing a hint of its French roots in the form of the luxurious cognac.

Strange at first thought, it all makes sense as we delve a little into the spirit’s history. Back then when, the brand partnered with Maitre de Chai Francois Thibault to transition his stills from cognac to vodka production. His beginnings and expertise as a Cellar Master in Cognac truly played muse to the GGVX we see before us today. With a distinct combination of 95% Grey Goose Vodka and 5% Cognac, the stunning bottle even takes on a silhouette reminiscent of traditional XO Cognac bottles. It still maintains that smoked glass look we are all familiar with, of course.

To get everyone excited, it was revealed that the Cognac was derived from grapes harvested from the grand Champagne region; the highest quality from the South of France. You end up with a clear, fresh and elegant floral aroma accentuated by subtle fruity notes, with a gentle sweetness that gradually envelops the mouth. Essentially, the GGVX imparts a subtle yet distinctive cognac flavour, without washing out the original Grey Goose Vodka palate.

While I discovered that it is not the only vodka and cognac hybrid to hit the market (e.g. Twenty Grand back in 2013), their unique filtering process gave birth to this crystal clear fluid which makes that hint of cognac a surprise.

According to Francois, the 40% abv spirit is best savoured neat, or slightly chilled. However, its signature yet subtle taste still makes an ideal versatile base for a cocktail. Renowned mixologist and Bacardi-Martini Korean brand ambassador, Kim Bong Ha and, Head Regional Mixologist at KU DE TA, Kunt Randham introduced us to their bespoke creations, exclusive to the establishment, using the GGVX during the launch that night; the Grey Goose VX La Sorbonne (with Martini Rosso and orange bitters) and Grey Goose VX Aurora (with dry vermouth, Japanese Shiso and Lime).

The KU DE TA Club Lounge will be one of the 50 clubs in the world to serve GGVX

Those who want to experience this limited “new meets old” spirit will be happy to know that select fine restaurants, night clubs and bars, including KU DE TA, have started serving it since the 17th April 2015. Even better news, Grey Goose will be upping the game with an innovative new VIP bottle for table service specifically at night clubs – cementing that Grey Goose is more than just a spirit, but a lifestyle and an experience.
