W Taipei Fly Me To The Moon Cakes-001

W Taipei creates mooncakes with a twist of new flavours and packaging. Called “HONEY, Fly Me To The Moon Cakes“, W Taipei Sweetologist Chef Ponytail has designed two Castella Honey Cakes in a purple and shimmering creative design gift set inspired by the Mega Room ballroom at level eight of the W Taipei. The mooncakes gift set is priced at NT$1,080 per box and is available from level one of W Taipei from 25 July to 8 September 2014.

There are two new flavours including the “Kumquat in Orange Honey Cake” which features preserved kumquat from Yilan county and the “Chocolate in Dragon Eye Honey Cake” which features bitter cacao which is balanced by the aromatic flavours of dragon eye honey from Thailand. Both cakes have dark brown top and bottom on sides which provide a beautiful contrast to the delicate and creamy, moist and bouncy sponge cake in the middle.

“Castella is a popular honey sponge cake which was originally introduced by the Portuguese merchants to Nagasaki area in the 16th century.” Shared W Taipei General Manager Cary M. Gray. “Castella is very well loved by the Taiwanese. Since design is one of our passion points, we are not only giving a little twist with the flavors but also the packaging.”

Call W Taipei at (02)7703-8887 or email mooncakes.taipei@whotels.com for more details or to order “HONEY, Fly Me To The Moon Cakes”.
