Give Mum Pockets of Love at Royal Pavilion this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is filled with cliché High Tea treats, or a fancy Champagne brunch – but wouldn’t you agree that it is all too westernised? My mother loves her Cantonese roots, and it makes absolute sense to celebrate her special day with exactly what she loves. The good news? The Royal Pavilion at Park Regis (conveniently located near Clarke Quay MRT) will be celebrating this special occasion with seven new dim sum creations by Chef Chen Man Wing and three Mother’s Day menus by executive chef Kee Siau Chuang!

No Dim Sum meal is complete without a Xiao Long Bao

Aptly named Pockets of Love, the Dim Sum dishes were beautifully crafted with artisan flair and the finest ingredients available. Chef Chen’s expertise truly shows in the well-balanced flavours of its fillings, wrapped in a translucent yet sturdy dumpling skin or a buttery, flaky pastry shell. My current favourites would be the Baked Cod Puffs with Black Pepper and one of the restaurant’s all time winner, BBQ Snow Bun – both jam packed full of goodness, without the sensory overload! I would actually love to ta pao a box of those buns so I could savour them all day long.

Chef Kee and his team will be presenting Royal Pavilion’s signature Royal Smoked Duck at S$68++ for the whole duck

Dim Sum aside, the star of the show has got to be Royal Pavilion’s signature Royal Smoked Duck. I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the best smoked ducks I have had in Singapore so far. The smoky flavour was infused into every bite of the succulent and tender duck meat, and that crisp skin would have diet-watchers lose all control. Eat it together with their in-house plum sauce – mildly sweet, with enough tart – to add another dimension to the dish.

Stir Fried Coral Clam with Asparagus in Lao Gan Tie Sauce at S$38++

Seafood lovers will be happy with their juicy Stir Fried Coral Clams with Asparagus in Lao Gan Tie Sauce. The fresh coral clams were incredibly juicy, and added a contrast in texture against the crunchy asparagus – all nicely tossed in the sweet-savoury Lao Gan Tie sauce.

Classic Cantonese Claypot Rice with Waxed Meat and Three types of Chinese Sausages at S$38++

Nothing gets more Cantonese than filling up on their lovingly prepared Claypot Rice with Waxed Meat and Three Types of Chinese Sausages. Looking seemingly simple, it got everyone salivating when the waitress poured the light soy sauce; thanks to the signature sizzling, crackling and the waffling aroma. The fluffy white rice, and, of course, the crisped rice at the bottom matched with the prime savoury meats was a heart-warming dish for the whole family.

The Mother’s Day menu will be available at the Royal Pavilion at Park Regis till the 10th May 2015, from 11.30AM to 02.30PM and 06.30PM to 1030PM. Reservations can be made through email; reservation@rpguandi.com or calling 6818 8851.
