SingTel Group Partners Samsung In Multiple Countries

SingTel-Samsung Partnership launch

Last Friday, SingTel Group and Samsung unveiled their partnership plans including marketing, content and technology to be launched progressively by the SingTel Group entities in seven countries – SingTel in Singapore, Optus in Australia, AIS in Thailand, Airtel in India and Africa, Globe Telecom in the Philippines and Telkomsel in Australia.

Retail Collaboration Programme

A one-stop shop experience will be offered to customers at selected stores of Samsung and the SingTel Group’s regional mobile associates. Instead of acquiring the mobile device and the mobile plan separately from the phone distributor and mobile operators, this one-stop experience is now available to customers of Globe Telecom in the Philippines and will progressively be made available to customer of Airtel in India and Telkomsel in Indonesia.

Direct carrier billing with Samsung Apps

Launched first in South East Asia with SingTel, postpaid customers can now buy apps and content from Samsung Apps without a credit card. Instead it will be billed to the customer’s SingTel bill. This will be progressively rolled out to AIS, Globe Telecom and Telkomsel customers. This will broaden the customer base in emerging markets with alternative means of payment.

Mobile App Development Programme

The SingTel Group and Samsung will co-jointly give the app-development ecosystem a boost through a sponsorship programme. Startg-ups in the region will be identified and help will be accorded to them to accelerate the development as well as the access to the Group’s 500 million mobile customers from SingTel, Optus, AIS, Globe Telecom and Telkomsel.

Direct Access to Applications

Samsung and SingTel Group Digital L!fe will develop mobile services that lets customers access selected services directly on the phone without the need of having to download them. Localised cusotmisation will be available to customers of AIS, Globe Telecom and Telkomsel starting with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

This announcement was made on the day of the Singapore launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5 at the Marina Bay Sands.
