Taiwan’s EVA Air flight BR12 from Taipei to Los Angeles was the victim of a bomb scare last week. The Boeing 777-300ER departed Taipei Taoyuan International Airport at 6.57pm Taiwan time with 305 passengers, three pilots and 15 flight attendants onboard.

Around 20 minutes before landing in Los Angeles International Airport, the FAA received a telephone call that the light was the target of a security threat. BR12 landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport at 3.40pm on 26 May 2015 and was parked in a secure area in a cargo bay where FBI agents, the Los Angeles Police Bomb Squad and other officials continued their investigation.

After a thorough investigation, the security threat has been confirmed a false alarm. Passengers were able to get off the aircraft for security screenings at 5.15pm and the aircraft was released back to EVA Air to resume operations.

The aircraft which was initially scheduled to operate as EVA flight BR11 from Los Angeles to Taipei at 5.15pm had to be replaced with another EVA aircraft because of the security checks. The light was delayed by 2 hours 15 minutes and took off at around 7.30pm with 298 passengers onboard.
