JAL Group launches JAL SKY NEXT, a thorough revamp of in-flight products and services, on 28 May 2014 for its domestic routes (flights JL303, 315, 325,310,320 and 332) on its Boeing 777-200 aircraft. Themed “Pioneering Standard”, JAL aims to provide a more comfortable experience and convenience on domestic routes.
JAL’s domestic fleet will get updated cabin interiors in May while JAL SKY Wi-Fi, its pay-per-use in-flight internet, chargeable at JPY400 per half hour, will be introduced in July this year. Higher tiered JAL Mileage Bank members with Diamond, JGC Premier and Sapphire status will receive free coupons every year can redeem them for in-flight Wi-Fi service from next month. JAL SKY Wi-Fi is powered by Gogo.
Customers will be able to use their own wireless LAN devices to watch Sports, gourmet, music anime and other video programmes as well as SKY RURUBU (travel information), flight information and JAL website for free.
High-quality genuine leather used in luxury vehicles will be introduced in JAL’s business and economy class seats. Carpets in each cabin will also be replaced to match the redesigned interiors.
The new slim-style seatback design Economy class seats will have approximately 5cm more legroom.
In Business class, the seats have an average pitch of 97cm offering 18cm more legroom than in Economy. The cabin will feature ‘air-like lighting’ allowing the lighting to be changed based on the flight hours, season and natural rhythm of time so that you feel as if you are still in Japan.
First Class seats will be installed onto nine domestic Boeing 767-300ER.
JAL SKY NEXT will be made progressively available on JAL’s domestic fleet of 77 Boeing 777-200/300, 767-300/300ER and 737-800.
