Qatar Airways will receive its first Airbus A350 XWB before the end of 2014 and will introduce it to commercial service to Frankfurt in January next year. Frankfurt is selected for the first route for this extra wide body service because of the significant capacity the aircraft provides for the comfort of its business and leisure travellers.
The flights will operate under QR067 and QR068 initially and will be followed shortly by QR069 and QR070. The aircraft offers 36 seats in Business and 247 seats in Economy.
The airline has 80 A350s on order with the first eight expected before end of 2015. Qatar Airways will fly to 146 destinations before the end of this year with two more new services to Djibouti on 26 October and Asmara in Eritrea on 4 December 2014.
Qatar Airways also recently took delivery of its first Airbus A380 aircraft last month and is operating this aircraft between Doha and London Heathrow.
