The ten popular destinations picked by Singaporean travellers are within the Asia Pacific region with Taipei being the most favourite destination when it comes to taking a New Year break. The average room night in Taipei during this period is S$251.81 which is 47% higher than usual. Singaporean travellers enjoy counting down to the new year in Taipei and look forward to the spectacular firework show at Taipei 101 where the New Year Countdown Party is held and near the biggest public concert.
Hong Kong is ranked number two and Bangkok number four. Hotel rooms in Hong Kong during this period is expected to be 194% more expensive than the average rate throughout the rest of 2014. A room night in Hong Kong can cost an average of S$686.40. Bangkok’s hotel rooms are more affordable and cost an average of S$97.71. This is only 18% higher than the annual average.
On a global scale, Singapore is the fifteenth most popular destination for travellers taking a New Year break. The top three favourite destinations to celebrate New Year’s by global travellers are London, New York City and Paris.
