Celebrate SG60 with The Theatre Practice’s Latest Jukebox Musical – Partial Eclipse Of The Heart

This August, The Theatre Practice returns with Partial Eclipse Of The Heart, a brand-new Mandarin jukebox musical marking the company’s 60th anniversary. Running from 21 August to 7 September 2025, the production brings together a star-studded cast including Joanna Dong, Derrick Hoh, Jean Seizure, Chriz Tong, and Ric Liu in a nostalgic, emotionally rich tale of friendship that spans four decades.

Set around a recurring reunion at a seaside chalet, the musical follows five best friends from their teenage years in an astronomy club to adulthood. As Singapore transforms, so do their dreams, relationships, and regrets. Audiences will be treated to 25 beloved Mandopop hits written by iconic Singaporean artists such as JJ Lin, Tanya Chua, Stefanie Sun, and Eric Ng — with each song reimagined to heighten the emotional arcs of the characters.

This will be The Theatre Practice’s first original musical since Lao Jiu: The Musical in 2012, and its first jukebox production since the sold-out If There’re Seasons…. The story was originally conceived by the late Jonathan Lim and completed by Kuo Jian Hong and Ng Mun Poh, with a brand-new original song composed by Julian Wong and lyrics by Xiaohan.
