Hairy Crab season at Szechuan Court is ongoing till 24 November 2016. Sourced from Yangzcheng Lake in Jiangsu province, China, the palm-sized hairy crab offers rich, decadent roe and sweet meat. Pair the steamed crab with warm Chinese Yellow Rice Wine and experience the divine flavours.
Master Chef Mok Wan Lok and his culinary team have also come up with classic hairy crab recipes alongside dim sum and main dishes.

I love my soups. And the Chef’s Signature Superior Crabmeat Consommé was so comforting. Those generous chunks of crab meat and flavourful soup. What more can one ask for.

The Steamed Whole Hairy Crab with Shiso Leaf is priced at S$58++ for the male crab and S$78++ for the female crab. The male crab is much larger than the female crab. Another version of the Hairy Crab is available stewed with aged Chinese Wine. You are also served a hot ginger tea to help balance the cooling energy from the hairy crabs. Ask for gloves if you don’t want to get your hands dirtied. Not to be eaten when you are in a rush.

The Hairy Crab Roe Scrambled Egg White Tart is quite an interesting treat too. Squeeze in your own vinegar into the egg white that fills up the tart. And savour the full flavours as you take in the whole tart in one bite. At least that was how I ate it. Who says you cannot play with your food.

The Handmade Ramen, Hairy Crab Roe, Golden Pumpkin Soup topped with Hairy Crab Roe is absolutely a must have. The rich flavours are complimented with the vegetables and enjoy the sweet Golden Pumpkin broth. This dish is on the menu for the first time.

When two or more dine together, opt for the five course set menu for S$138++ per person or the six course set menu for S$188++ per person. Add on a bottle of Shao Hsing Hua Tiao wine or house wine at a special price of S$50++. Also stand a chance to win a weekend stay at the Fairmont Yangchen Lake. Seasonal à la carte items start from S$18++.
