Starting 16 July 2025, YouTube expands its Premium Lite pilot to users in Singapore, giving viewers a budget-friendly way to enjoy ad-free videos for just S$7.98 per month. Full availability is expected across the country in the coming weeks.
If you love bingeing cooking clips, travel vlogs, or gaming marathons without annoying pre-rolls or mid-roll interruptions, this plan might just hit the sweet spot.
YouTube Premium Lite is a pared-down subscription tier that offers ad-free viewing for most YouTube videos excluding YouTube Music and Shorts, where ads may still appear. It doesn’t include other Premium perks like background play, offline downloads, or full access to YouTube Music.
Think of it as YouTube’s “lite beer” version of Premium: less feature-heavy but still refreshingly smooth for everyday viewing.
What You Get:
- Ad-free experience across most YouTube videos
- Works on mobile, desktop, and TV
- Access to content from top categories: gaming, comedy, food, education, and more
What’s Not Included:
- Ads may still appear on YouTube Music, Shorts, and during search and browse
- No background play or offline downloads
- No access to YouTube Music Premium
With more than 125 million Premium and Music subscribers globally, YouTube is actively diversifying its offerings to match user demand. Premium Lite is YouTube’s nod to viewers who want a cleaner viewing experience, without the full bells and whistles and price tag of the full Premium plan.
This new tier also helps creators and partners earn revenue, maintaining a balanced ecosystem between ads and subscriptions.
If you mainly watch long-form videos and don’t care much for music or offline playback, this is an easy upgrade for S$7.98/month. But if you’re someone who queues up playlists and needs content on the go, the full YouTube Premium plan may still be the better buy.
Look out for the YouTube Premium Lite option in your YouTube app or browser in the coming weeks. You’ll be able to activate the subscription under your account settings once it rolls out fully in Singapore.
