Banyan Tree Group Stay for Good Programme offers activities and experiences in unique destinations

The Stay for Good initiative introduced by the Banyan Tree Group aims to offer travellers genuine and engaging encounters, fostering a stronger bond with every location visited. This programme seeks to generate meaningful contributions and open up additional prospects for the communities involved by respecting and preserving the local heritage and customs. The Stay For Good initiative will be gradually implemented across all Banyan Tree Group properties worldwide, encompassing Banyan Tree, Angsana, Cassia, Dhawa, Garrya, and Homm properties.

Embark on an extraordinary journey to some of the world’s most unique and off-the-beaten-path destinations through this multi-brand initiative. Whether it’s discovering thousand-year-old customs and crafts in Kyoto, Japan, or exploring colonial architecture and cultural traditions in Puebla, Mexico, the programme features an array of fascinating experiences to suit every taste.

The Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape experience takes guests on a tour of the Singaperang Village, led by a local farmer who shares his knowledge of the land while gathering native fruits and edible plants such as winged beans, peppercorns, and cemcem leaves. Guests will also sample raw honey from stingless bees and enjoy homemade local delicacies prepared by the farmer’s wife.

At Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto, visit a traditional home with a thatched roof. This practice dates back over 2,000 years to the Jomon period in Japan. Under the guidance of an expert, learn how to create a thatched roof by tying susuki grass together.

Travellers at Banyan Tree Puebla will venture to the nearby rural village of San Jerónimo Tecuanipan to visit Casita de Barro, an establishment that promotes sustainable living and traditional farming methods to the local community.

The comprehensive programme presents an extensive selection of thoughtfully curated activities and experiences. Venture into the bamboo forests of Anji in China, uncover the rich Nyonya heritage in Penang, and gain insights into the minority Muslim community in Krabi, Thailand.

“We believe that travel should be about more than just a vacation. It should be an opportunity to explore new perspectives, gain fresh inspiration, and immerse oneself in the culture and heritage of the places we visit. Our Stay For Good programme offers just that – an opportunity to connect with local communities and contribute to the sustenance of their precious heritage. Our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. Our approach is inspired by the concept of regenerative tourism, and this is reflected in the range of sustainability-related activities we provide to our guests. We believe that through travel and tourism, there is potential to make a positive impact on the communities we visit and the environment we operate in.”
