Jetstar Group makes the news again with a Finnair – Jetstar Asia codeshare partnership while Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Pacific are added to oneworld’s Global Explorer round-the-world fare.
The group, which includes Jetstar Airways in Australia & New Zealand, Jetstar Asia in Singapore, Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam and Jetstar Japan in Japan, operates up to 4,000 flights a week to more than 70 destinations across Asia Pacific.
Jetstar Asia is based in Singapore, operating some 26 routes in around 13 countries and 25 cities across the Asia Pacific region. Jetstar Japan flies 19 domestic Japanese and International routes from Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai and Nagoya Chubu. Jetstar Pacifc operates 32 domestic and international routes to 16 destinations in Vietnam mainly from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Finnair – Jetstar Asia Codeshare through Singapore Hub
Finnair customers will be able to travel on codeshare flights operated by Jetstar Asia to and from its Singapore Changi Airport hub from 15 December 2015. Finnair’s code will be added to Jetstar Asia’s flights between Singapore and Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh, Phuket, Perth and Darwin.
Jetstar Asia is part of the Jetstar Group and a member of the oneworld Alliance, in which Finnair is a member.
Jetstar Added to oneworld Global Explorer
oneworld’s Global Explorer is a round-the-world fare offered by oneworld member airlines and selected partners outside the global alliance. It offers simple, flexible and great value travel around-the-world within a year. Prices are based on cabin class chosen and distance travelled.
Jetstar Australia already participates in the fare and more recently on 1 December 2015, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Pacific were added into the programme.
With the addition of these three carrier’s routes, more than 15 new destinations and two key Asian Hubs in Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore and dozens more routes have been added to Global Explorer.
They add 13 destinations in Vietnam to Global Explorer – Buon Ma Thuot, Chua Lai, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Pleiku. Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Nha Trang, Hue, Phu Quoc, Tou Hoa, Qhi Nhon and Dong Hoi – plus Indonesia’s Pekanbaru and Palembang, along with China’s Shantou.
Global Explorer now offers 230 destinations across Asia and around 1,150 worldwide in over 150 countries.
Global Explorer covers all routes offered by oneworld’s member airlines which include airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, TAM Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas Airways, Royal Jordanian, Russia’s S7 and Sri Lankan Airlines as well as some 30 affiliated airlines including Niki, Comair, SUN-AIR, LAN Argentina, LAN Colombia, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru and QantasLink.
Participating in the programme also includes airlines that are not part of the global alliance. These include Aer Lingus, Alaska Airlines, Horizon Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Fiji Airways, Meridiana fly and WestJet. Flights carrying the QANTAS code but operated by Air Tahiti Nui and Jetstar were also already included.
