
Vietnam Airlines currently flies between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and Gatwick airport in London. From 31 March 2015, it will operate from Heathrow airport instead, joining other SkyTeam members at Terminal 4.
Flights between Heathrow and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City will increase from four to five flights weekly with further increase to a daily service in 2016. Vietnam Airlines will operate flights from Heathrow to Hanoi on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays and to Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights from Heathrow depart at 1.45pm and arrives in Hanoi at 6.50am the next day and in Ho Chim Minh City at 7.10am the next day.
Vietnam Airlines continues to operate the Boeing 777-200ER until July 2015 after which the Boeing 787-9s will be deployed to serve its first international destination with the next generation of Dreamliners.
It will be the first airline in Asia to receive and operate two types of new generation aircraft including the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350XWB. It expects 33 Airbus A350XWB and Boeing 787-9 to be delivered within three years.
In-flight Wi-Fi, full flat beds in Business Class will be available in the new aircraft. The airline will launch its new branding and corporate identity then in the hope of upgrading its service quality to 4-star international standards this year and top in South East Asia by 2020.
