Wyndham Singapore Hotel Opens After Grand Makeover. Here’s What’s New

The Peninsula Hotel first opened its doors in Singapore in 1974 and later merged with The Excelsior Hotel, which began operations in 1983. In 2000, the two became the Peninsula Excelsior Singapore. Following a S$50 million complete refurbishment that went far beyond a surface refresh, the hotel at 3 Coleman Street has been given a new identity and a revitalised interior, while retaining its storied legacy and integrating modern and contemporary amenities.

The hotel enjoys a prime location, with Funan Mall right next door and Raffles City, Boat Quay, and Clarke Quay all within easy walking distance. The Financial District is also nearby, and with City Hall MRT station just down the road, getting around the city is a breeze.

Relaunched in 2024 as an upper-upscale Wyndham Singapore Hotel, this marks Wyndham Hotels & Resorts‘ official entry into the Singapore market. It is now the only Wyndham-branded property in the city, following the departure of Ramada and Days Hotel at Zhongshan Park, which rebranded as Aloft Singapore Novena on 1 July 2023.

“This transformation is not just about a new name – it’s about a new level of excellence. We have meticulously reimagined every aspect of the guest experience. Partnering with Wyndham allows us to elevate our service and hospitality offerings while preserving the unique character of this iconic hotel. We are excited to introduce a new era of hospitality in Singapore.”

Earlier this month, I had the chance to go on a private tour of the property, and I must say I was impressed. It’s actually the second Wyndham property I’ve visited in the past year, and both left a good impression. The first was the grand opening of Wyndham Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan last June, which we attended during our trip to the scenic lakeside destination.

The lobby at Wyndham Singapore Hotel has been thoughtfully reimagined to deliver a memorable first impression, with refined interiors, soft atmospheric lighting, and a streamlined check-in experience. The tented-style roof adds a touch of theatrical flair. Somewhere between a Cirque du Soleil marquee and the sails of a ship.

The expansive space on one side overlooks The Falls, one of two pools (the other Still Water), and an inviting Bentley’s Bar with lounge chairs fills the lobby.

What an inviting way to get guests to enjoy a tipple or a glass of wine while waiting to check in. It is the same level that connects both towers.

The hotel offers 591 newly revamped rooms and suites, boasting contemporary design, luxurious bedding, and expansive views of either Marina Bay or Fort Canning Hill. Most rooms have sleek, uncarpeted flooring. Accommodation options range from Superior, Deluxe, and Premier to Premier Bay View, Executive, Executive Bay View, and the spacious 70 sqm Executive Deluxe Suite.

Opting for a Marina Bay-facing room is ideal during National Day festivities at the Padang or the New Year’s countdown. You can make it extra special with in-room dining or by adding festive touches like balloons and cake for special occasions.

Rooms here are equipped with free Wi-Fi, filtered drinking water, a Nespresso coffee machine with free capsules, smart TV, a minibar & a safe, universal sockets and LaGaia Unedited Grapefruit & Orange bath and body amenities.

Sky Lounge, a new restaurant and bar on the top floor, is expected to open in mid-2025 as an elevated retreat offering panoramic, unobstructed views. It will offer exclusive bar and culinary creations and private dining.

On one side, you’ll see the gleaming towers of Singapore’s Financial District; on the other, enjoy sweeping vistas of the Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands, and the historic Padang. Another new dining concept is Jaspé, where guests enjoy French and Asian gastronomy.

The Study at level one is a brand-new Executive Lounge offering exclusive benefits to Exclusive Floor guests where drinks and snacks are readily available. Designed as a quiet and refined space, the lounge provides executive guests with complimentary perks, including a selection of light bites, freshly brewed coffee, premium teas, and other thoughtful amenities throughout the day, perfect for unwinding or catching up on work in comfort.

“Singapore is a cornerstone of Wyndham’s regional expansion strategy, reflecting our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional accommodation experiences across Asia Pacific. The grand opening of Wyndham Singapore Hotel underscores our robust growth trajectory in the region, complementing our recent successes in new signings and hotel launches. As we move forward, we look forward to working closely with the owner and the hotel team to establish Wyndham Singapore Hotel as the preferred choice, offering guests exceptional accommodation experiences in one of Singapore’s most vibrant and dynamic districts.”
