The four profiles are:

  • The Brave – someone who braved the entire 50 minutes of haunted trails at the Haunted Hospital in Fuji Q in Japan, known as one of the world’s largest & scariest haunted trail
  • The Timid – one disinclined to any approach and easily frightened, but at the same time playful and willing to try out new things
  • The Cam Whore – one who craved for that perfect moment, perfect spot to frame and snap the PERFECT SHOT
  • The Babe – one who has never been to any USS HHN and a demure girl who claims to be fearless to haunted house gimmicks before the visit

So depending on which persona you feel deem fit to your own persona, here are the reviews on USS HHN3 by our Fear Explorer Team:

Let the FUN begin…

The Brave

USS HHN3 raised the bar higher this year with three scare zones and three haunted houses. My personal favourite has got to be Songs Of Death. With Chinese opera and screaming songstress, this haunted house managed to come up with a few shocking moments even for me. Elaborate outfits and compelling sets, the queue for this haunted house will be expected to be very long. Do not take my word for it, go venture. IF YOU DARE!

The Timid

It is my second year to USS HHN. Definitely an improvement from last year, and not for those with a wild imagination. For those like me who are not as brave and was forced upon to this event, Monster Rock concert is probably the only segment for you – entertaining but not fantastic. Personally, I am quite fearful of Chinese horror. So, the Songs Of Death haunted house was my scariest experience. Mirror maze and transparent flooring, the bloody effects, it was just enough for me. To “enjoy” the fullest scare, go in smaller groups and at a slower pace. Overall, it was an above average experience. Ultimately, it goes down to the company you are going with. Couples, gay or straight, time for you to man up to protect your other half.

The Cam Whore

The sets and props are simply amazing, while the makeups are detailed and very undead. Its hard not to get a good shot of the living dead when roaming the scare zones. My personal favourite has to be the Attack Of The Vampires on New York Street where Victorian dressed vampires and gargoyles roam the beautiful set. I cannot help but to be trigger happy and snap away while ignoring the scare actors. They were just gorgeous models to me for my shots. The Scare actors did not get out of their characters but because they are undead, they tend to move slowly so it was easy to capture a nice shot of them. Definitely looking forward to visit the next installment of USS HHN next year.

The Babe

Never been to USS HHN before, when I was asked if I will be scared, my reply was NO. But after entering the first haunted house, ADRIFT, I found that I was not that brave anymore. Through my journey into the lost ship filled with unrest souls, I was screaming all the way as I walked through the corpse of ship mates that were once alive on board. When roaming the scare zones on the streets, I could not even take pictures with the scare actors without feeling something spooky might happen next. For a timid girl, good company that will protect and yet make you laugh through the walk down haunted houses and alleys are simply priceless for such occasion. I totally enjoyed the visit to USS HHN and I guess this is what you called “Scary Fun”.

And The VERDICT

Universal Studios Singapore has once again managed to increase its benchmark as the authority for Halloween Scare Fest in Singapore. The details on the props and setup of the production just gets better each year, with new scare gimmicks and creative booby traps that never fail to amaze and wow horror seekers year after year. Our team of reviewers is already excited to see how USS will surprise us for HHN4 next year.

Whether your are timid or brave, as long as you have good company, you will enjoy every moment of it. But in order not to disappoint your trip by waiting in the SUPER LONG QUEUES, the extra S$40 for the EXPRESS PASS is worth it and you will feel like a king when you can cut the queue by using the express lanes. We did not include in depth descriptions of our experience on each individual zones and haunted house as we did not want to spoil the surprise element and you should try it out yourselves and not hear it from us.

For more pictures from our trip, visit our photo set on our Flickr page.

Please flush the toilet when you visit the haunted houses… THANKS
