Bio-Oil launches their biggest 200ml bottle in Singapore, retailing at S$35.90

Famed as a miracle skincare oil for treating anything from scars, stretch marks to correcting uneven skin tone, Bio-Oil has gained international recognition in many big name magazines since its launch in 2002. With 224 awards from over 18 countries, it has become a staple on drugstore shelves from its birthplace of South Africa to the rest of the world.

Bio-Oil first reached our shores back in 2011 in a 60mL bottle, and has, since, garnered a loyal fan base among mummies and the clumsy alike with its signature blend of PurCellin Oil with a combination of Natural Plant Oils and Vitamins. More notably, this PurCellin Oil supposedly acts as the binding component that keeps the goodness of the product altogether, for maximum absorption. It is also responsible for that non-greasy and quick-drying consistency, perfect for a worry free application any time of the day.

Green Your Beauty Routine with Bio-Oil

This May, answering to its ever-increasing popularity, it has decided to launch a whooping 200mL bottle!

Seeing that only a few drops is needed twice daily for the targeted area, it made me wonder why was there even a need for something more than double the original size? The thing is, it is versatile. There is so much more you can do with a few drops of Bio-Oil; as a non-greasy moisturizer, it can do pretty much work its magic on anything from taming frizzy hair to, even, incorporating into your DIY facial masks.

The ingredients are easy to get, and the steps are simple. I vouch for that, as I actually got a personal lesson from accomplished model and wife, Wendy Jacobs, and her up-and-coming runway model of a daughter, Iman Fandi, who both graced the scene during the launch to give some advice on how they maintain their ever-radiant complexion through natural and organic ingredients.

All you need is to combine the following ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Manuka Honey (proven moisturizing, skin protective benefits and wound healing)
  • 2 Teaspoons of Himalayan Rose Salt (natural scrub)
  • 4 Squeezes of Fresh Lemon Wedge / 4-5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (brightening effect)
  • 10 drops or more Bio-Oil

Into a Grinding Mortar, and mix until it is all combined. You can even control how much exfoliation you want through the amount of rose salt and how smooth you have made your scrub. With just 10 minutes out of your day, you can get a quick and easy tub of DIY face scrub for your skin, – that is gentle and nourishing enough to give tender loving care to the face and, even, the rest of the body!

A little tip is to wet your skin first, to allow the water to activate the hydrogen peroxide in the honey, and gently scrub in small circular motions before washing off with lukewarm water. I gave it a try on my hands, and was happy to find them feeling soft and baby smooth.

Tips and Know-Hows

The jovial mother-and-daughter pair even imparted some wisdom on how to fully reap the benefits of this wonder product. Most importantly, Wendy advised all to start applying Bio-Oil at very early stage of any stretch mark or scars. Emphasizing that it is not only hypoallergenic, but also safe to use throughout pregnancy, she, herself, has personally witnessed the magic of Bio-Oil. From miraculously treating her surgery scars to preventing pregnancy stretch marks, she has even passed on the habit to her five beautiful children.

While I may not be a die-hard fan like many others, Wendy’s success story has gotten me excited to start including Bio-Oil in my daily routine. This may just be my answer to an inexpensive skincare alternative, for anything from my face to the tip of my toes.

The Bio-Oil 200mL bottle will be available at all leading drugstores in May 2015, at a retail price of S$35.90
