Increase in Operating Capacity at 26 Public Libraries from 19 August


Planning to visit the library from 19 August 2021 onwards? National Library Board will increase the operating capacity in the National Library, the 26 public libraries, the National Archives of Singapore and the Former Ford Factory from the current 25% to 50% from 19 August 2021 after the easing of Phase 2 Heightened Alert measures.

On weekdays, you can stay in the library for as long as you wish. On weekends, timed entry system to manage capacity remains. That’s up to three hours at regional libraries in Jurong, Tampines and Woodlands, the National Library, the study lounge at Level 5 of the National Library Building, and the National Archives of Singapore. For all other public libraries the dwell time limit is up to two hours. While the dwell time will remain at one hour at the Former Ford Factory.

You have to make advanced online bookings for your preferred slots on the weekends. Bookings can be made for up to five persons per slot. For real-time crowd capacity, you can check online or on the NLB mobile app.

Physical programmes such as MOLLY services, guided tours for exhibition will be progressively resumed. The overall group size of each programme is subject to the operating capacity of the venue and safe management measures.Visit NLB’s GoLibrary for updates on programmes.

At the Asian Film Archive’s public screenings at Oldham Theatre Level, 3 in the National Archives of Singapore building, the audience capacity will be increased from 33 to 50 persons for the theatre and atrium. Safe distancing measures will continue and intermingling between groups are limited.

Temperature screening at NLB’s premises will be removed. Patrons will still be required to wear their masks at all times and adhere to the capacity limits.
