12 August 2012, Singapore – Tyra Banks was at a press conference this morning at 10am at Equarius Hotel in Resorts World to promote Asia’s Next Top Model which is slated to air November 2012.
Tyra Banks is the first model to book twenty-five runway shows in Paris at the age of 18. She achieved many firsts including being the first fashion model appearing on the cover of GQ as well as the first African American woman to grace the covers of Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret. She wrote her first young adult fantasy adventure novel Modelland, a New York Times bestseller. Having been honoured on “Times 100 Most Influential People In The World”, Tyra has established organisations to develop and empower young women including TZONE in 1999 and her recent partnership with Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC) to create the Tyra Banks TZONE at the Lower East Girls Club in New York City, slated to open in 2013.
This is Tyra’s first time in Singapore having flown through Singapore many times previously and she is impressed by the architecture here and Singapore Airline’s first class cabin in her flight to Singapore. It felt like it was her own room, and an even bigger space than her dorm room in business school. She also spoke about the beautiful flight attendants in their Singapore Girl couture dresses.

Tyra had never expected American Next Top Model to surpass two seasons and is at season 19 now and a global phenomenon which makes it surreal for her. Tyra described Karlie Kloss as a bubbly, vivacious and beautiful model. At 6′ 2″ tall, she goes against the norms of models who tend to be 5′ 9″.
