Cathay Pacific x Pirata inflight menu collaboration

Savour Pirata’s Italian Comfort Cuisine at 30,000 Feet: Cathay Pacific’s Latest Partnership with Iconic Hong Kong Brands

Cathay Pacific has collaborated with Hong Kong-based Pirata restaurant to offer customers home-style honest Italian fare in Premium Economy on selected medium- and long-haul flights departing from Hong Kong. This collaboration is the latest in a series of successful menu partnerships with popular Hong Kong brands as part of the airline’s continued efforts to elevate and diversify the inflight dining offerings available to customers.

Pirata is Pirata Group‘s flagship Italian restaurant in Wan Chai. Opened in 2014, Pirata specialises in familial, regional specialities served up in large plates to share. The group’s portfolio of F&B concepts in Hong Kong includes Calle Ocho, Tempo Tempo, Honjokko, La Favorita, Pane E Latte, The Pizza Project, The Optimist, Tokyolima, Pici, Chaiwala, Hugger Mugger, Honjo and TMK.

“This carefully curated selection of dishes channels the spirit of Italian cuisine by focusing on sophisticated simplicity, traditional flavours and quality ingredients, bringing the rich and vibrant tastes of Italy to the skies,” shares Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience and Design.

The culinary team of Cathay Pacific and Pirata sought to bring the spirit of the restaurant’s honest, authentic Italian fare to each dish, inspired by the large, shared platters that often make up the heart of Italian family gatherings. Each dish has been specifically tailored to bring the home-style fare of a Sunday family lunch to the skies.

Cathay Pacific x Pirata Collaboration Menu Highlights

Enjoy scrumptious vegetable-laden starters such as the Caprese with tomato and bread salad, respectively, combining two well-loved classics from Campania and Tuscany. “Vitello” tonnato – roast beef with tuna and caper sauce, or the tuna and saffron orzo salad offers a taste of the land and sea. The baby octopus and crushed potato salad is a timeless tradition. It stars tender baby octopus braised with tomatoes, black olives and a dash of chilli, served over a bed of lightly crushed potatoes.

The selection of mains features a decadent pork saltimbocca with mushroom jus, an adaptation of a Roman Classic that showcases pork loin wrapped in Parma ham and layered with provolone and sage. The chicken pizzaiola with roasted zucchini and saffron rice serves up juicy and tender chicken topped with an oregano-infused tomato sauce with melted mozzarella.

Other mains include the Calabrian-style orecchiette pasta with Italian sausage, spicy ‘nduja and cherry tomatoes or the classic Italian meatloaf with marinara sauce.

Complete the meal with a glass of Astoria Lounge Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG from the hillside vineyards of Italy’s Veneto region.
