GrabPlatform Superapp To Allow Third Party Partners to Integrate with Grab

Grab has announced the launch of GrabPlatform today. The open platform strategy allows partners in Southeast Asia to add everyday services to the Grab App, allowing integration of third-party services with Grab. A suite of APIs that enables partners to access components of Grab’s technology such as logistics and payments. It will be launched first in Singapore and Indonesia on 18 July 2018.

GrabFresh, an on-demand grocery delivery service, is Grab’s latest service for Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand for now. GrabFresh is available in the Grab app. It is a GrabPlatform partner integration with HappyFresh, a grocery delivery provider. Shop for groceries from the comfort of your home while personal shoppers pick the right items for you and GrabExpress drivers and delivery partners will send your purchases to your doorstep within an hour or at a pre-arranged time. You can purchase from a selection of over 100,000 grocery products from over 50 large supermarket chains and specialty grocery chains.

There is a refreshed Grab app which provides services, and relevant information when you need it. The new Grab experience will begin to roll out in Singapore and Indonesia on iOS from today, and on Android from 18 July. Other countries will have the new Grab experience by Q3. The new home screen features single tap access to payments and easy navigation to all everyday services as well as a news feed that helps you discover your city with location reviews and useful seasonal information.

Grab has crossed 2 billion rides on 7 July this year. It took five years four months to hit 1 billion rides and only less than nine months to hit the next billion. By the end of this year, it will be the first Southeast Asian company to hit revenues of US$1 billion. New business for Grab has grown rapidly. GrabFood expanded from two to six countries in Q2, grew 9x Gross Merchandise Value over the last 12 months. From January to May this year, Grab Financial’s total payment volume more than doubled.

Grab has Southeast Asia’s largest network of 7.1 million drivers, delivery partners, agents and merchants across 225 cities in 8 countries.

In Indonesia, Grab is also offering ‘Pulsa’ a prepaid mobile phone credit top up service. Grab has partnered Yahoo to provide the latest news in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines from this month. Other local news partnerships will be announced in other countries soon.
