Grindr’s New ‘Right Now’ Feed Speeds Up Real-Time LGBTQ+ Connections Worldwide

Grindr, with more than 14.6M average monthly active users, just launched something spicy for those who don’t have time to play coy. Meet Right Now, a brand-new intent-based feature designed for people who want to cut to the chase. Forget scrolling endlessly. This is a real-time feed (not your regular profile grid) where users can post a one-hour-only update, complete with text and pics, saying exactly what they’re up for. Whether it’s a chat, coffee, or something a little more… immediate, it’s all about real-time, no-guesswork connections.

“Right Now empowers our users to find exactly what they want, when they want it,” says AJ Balance, Chief Product Officer at Grindr. The March pilot in Australia and Washington D.C. saw such demand that they pushed global rollout ahead of schedule. Now that’s what you call instant gratification.

Available on iOS and Android worldwide, this feature’s all about timing, clarity, and matching vibes fast. Grindr is calling it “The Global Gayborhood in Your Pocket”, but Right Now? It’s basically the front porch where everyone’s saying what they’re really looking for.

At launch, depending on their location, people will receive a number of free hour-long Right Now sessions per week (refreshed every Friday), with the option to purchase more sessions after using their complimentary ones.

How it works:

  • Posts last 1 hour, then vanish
  • Access via the main grid, bottom nav, or profile drawer
  • Get a few free sessions weekly (refreshed every Friday)
  • Want more? You can buy additional sessions à la carte
