AirAsia X launches new route to Uzbekistan, unlocking new adventures in Central Asia for Singaporeans via Kuala Lumpur

AirAsia X Launches New Route to Tashkent via Kuala Lumpur

AirAsia X (AAX) is expanding its reach in Central Asia with the announcement of a brand-new route to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, launching 15 October 2025. This strategic addition follows the airline’s successful foray into Almaty, Kazakhstan, and marks another significant milestone for travellers in Singapore and Southeast Asia seeking affordable access to the heart of the Silk Road.

The Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent route will operate three times weekly, connecting travellers from across the AirAsia network. Singaporeans can enjoy 11 daily flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with seamless Fly-Thru services. Whether you’re planning a short layover or a longer KL stopover, your gateway to Uzbekistan is now just one connection away.

Following strong demand for its Almaty service since early 2024, AirAsia X is banking on the growing appeal of Central Asia as a travel destination and a commercial hub. Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, is the region’s cultural and economic powerhouse, offering travellers a unique mix of Islamic heritage, Soviet-era architecture, vibrant bazaars and lush green spaces.

“The launch of Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent is a strategic milestone. We’re not only strengthening tourism and trade ties, but also connecting Singapore, Southeast Asia and even Australia to one of the most intriguing parts of the world.”

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X:

Fly-Thru passengers from Singapore have shown strong interest in Central Asian routes, with Almaty already accounting for over 10% of overall Fly-Thru loads out of Singapore. Tashkent is expected to drive that figure even higher.

AAX is offering introductory one-way fares from just SGD391 (all-in) for travel between 15 October 2025 and 14 September 2026. The promotional booking window runs until 6 July 2025, and tickets are available on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com.

The fare includes passenger service charges, fuel surcharges, and other applicable fees, making this one of the most affordable ways to visit Uzbekistan from Singapore.

Tashkent offers a travel experience unlike any other – ornate mosques, centuries-old madrassas, metro stations that are works of art, and markets alive with the scents of spices and grilled meats. It’s a place where ancient culture meets a modernising capital, and where your ringgit stretches surprisingly far.

It’s also the perfect launchpad for a wider Silk Road itinerary. With its strategic location, visitors can explore Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, each steeped in history and architectural grandeur.

With this new Tashkent route, AirAsia X cements its role as a major connector between Southeast Asia and the growing economies of Central Asia. Whether you’re a backpacker with Silk Road dreams, a business traveller seeking emerging markets, or a family looking for a culturally rich escape, this route brings you closer—for less.

Book early, pack light, and let Tashkent surprise you.
