SFW 2015 sees the launch of Fashion Futures It will be an inaugural talent support programme for local designers to take their brand onto a global stage

“There’s an incredible amount of talent and creativity here in Asia. There’s no reason why the next hub of fashion shouldn’t be in Asia.” – Odile Benjamin, Co-Founder of Raoul.

Singapore’s fashion scene has come a long way, and is rapidly being recognised in the international market. The only problem? The brand recognition is still in its infancy, with so many established and emerging talents needing a platform to showcase their individualistic designs to the world.

This year, SFW 2015 will be spearheading the Talent Support Programme to catapult our local fashion scene onto the international market place. Known as Fashion Futures, three of our established designers – Priscilla Shunmugam of Ong Shunmugam, Sabrina Goh of ELOHIM and Chelsea Scott-Blackhall of Dzojchen – have been chosen by us to be the acting pioneers.

ELOHIM will also be presenting their latest during SFW 2015

As they showcase their latest on the SFW 2015 runway, they will be sourced by some of the world’s top retailers; global e-tailer ASOS, L.A. based clothing retailer Fred Segal and international multi-label store Opening Ceremony Japan. Designs featured at Blueprint 2015 will also be presented to these major brands as well.

Of course, there’s more. Besides having their key pieces featured for sale globally, the three will get the chance to hear invaluable experiences and feedback from Diane von Furstenburg, Victoria Beckham and Thakoon! Their words of wisdom will no doubt benefit the three and fellow local designers in the long run.

Ultimately, it will be a win-win situation for all, with our Singapore name soon taking a new meaning of Asia’s Fashion Hub!

Singapore Fashion Week 2015 will be running from now to 17 May 2015, with tickets available for sale on SISTIC.
