Sama Sama Express Hotel and Lounge at klia2

klia2, the new budget terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport is spacious and offers a haven for shoppers and diners. KLIA and klia2 are still not linked to each other.

Sama Sama Express hotel and lounge is located at the International Departures satellite building at klia2 so you do not need to clear customs and immigration when transiting here for a layover between flights.

There are 70 guests rooms featuring two comfortable room types with a view of aircraft and control towers. There are four superior rooms which can accommodate two and two family rooms which can accommodate up to four people.

The rooms are charged by six hourly rate or 12 hourly rate with charges of RM35 per additional hour. Single rooms are charged RM140 for six hours or RM280 for 12 hours. Standard rooms are available in Queen or Twin at RM190 for six hours or RM380 for 12 hours. Superior Rooms are charged at RM220 for six hours or RM440 for 12 hours. The Family Room is available at RM250 for six hours or RM500 for 12 hours.

The remaining single or standard rooms have no window views and are great if you need a place just to sleep.

The rooms range from 14 to 48 square metres and are equipped with in room coffee and tea facilities, satellite television, in room safe, shower facilities with hair dryer, bath towels, two-in-one bath and shower gel, tooth brush and Colgate toothpaste, shower cap and shaver. I was not too thrilled with the two-in-one bath and shower gel in the shower area.

But you can always get travel-sized toiletries from The Body Shop, L’Occitane or convenience store one level below the hotel. Hand soaps are also not provided at the sink so there is some inconvenience in walking into the shower area to dispense the shower gel.

I stayed at the Superior Room (Room 14) at the end of the far end of the hallway from the entrance of the hotel rooms area. It was a corner room and had a view of the bridge which connects the domestic terminal of klia2 to the international departures terminal in the satellite building where the hotel is located at. There is also a clear view of the aircraft and airfield.

If you are an aviation geek just like me, you would enjoy the view. You may even wake up in the middle of the night just to check out what’s parked outside your room.

Sama Sama Express Hotel and Lounge at klia2 also offers pay-per-use lounge facilities for passengers to relax, catch a bite and shower before their flight.

For a promotional fee of RM88 till 31 December 2014, you can enjoy refreshments and a decent selection of filling food. Complimentary Wi-Fi and internet facilities on iMacs are also available. The food selection is filling and substantial. There is a selection of hot food, salads and desserts. For refreshments, you have a choice of soft drinks, juices, coffee from a coffee making dispenser and hot tea.

Shower facilities are available with towels and bathroom amenities should you need to freshen up. Sama Sama Express Lounge can accommodate up to 110 people comfortably.
