Trophy 2015 CECF Singapore Cup

The Year of the Horse is not going out quietly. It is in fact on the fast track, at full gallop to a finish for the richest prize in Singapore’s racing calendar.

Come Sunday 22 Feb at the Singapore Turf Club in Kranji, the 2015 CECF will kick off its hooves for a S$3.05m purse, the richest race in Singapore’s 173-year racing history. The China Equine Cultural Festival event here is a first for Singapore (“Oh not another Singapore first!”)

Oh yes it is. It is the China Horse Club’s first overseas destination event. And about time too, after 25 years of diplomatic relations between our countries! So put on your angpow red baju, hop on bus/train/cab, for a look/see/bet.

Of celebrated international artists, world class jockeys (even smaller than F1 drivers), and our own Kit Chan (not one, not two, but three hit songs). All the trotting (women in hats) and cantering (men in suits) and nags (“Must you bet so much dear?”) will activate from noon to 9pm. 11 races in all. Food. Entertainment. Culture. Money. Mainland Chinese. Guanxi! (It could well be a racehorse name…)
