Panel: The Peranakan Wields the Pen

11.30am to 12.30pm at Ixora, The Peranakan Museum | Festival Pass

Peranakan authors Desmond Sim, Josephine Chia and Walter Woon discuss the characteristics of this rich and unique culture.

 

Panel: Of Book Awards and Best Sellers

2.30pm to 3.30pm at ilovebooks.com Pavillion, Campus Green in Singapore Management University | Festival Pass

Join critically acclaimed writers Shin Kyung-Sook, Michael Cunningham and Brian Castro as they share the impact of winning literary awards.

 

Meet The Author: Shin Kyung-Sook

4pm – 5pm at Ixora in The Peranakan Museum | Festival Pass

The first female author to win the Man Asian Literary Prize this year, Shin Kyung-Sook shares more about her award-winning work, ‘Please Look After Mom’ and why she is known as the new voice of her generation.

Sunday 4 November

Panel: Dramatic Endings

11.30am to 12.30pm at Exhibition Gallery 2 Basement, The National Museum of Singapore | Festival Pass

Join playwrights Candace Chong, Chong Tze Chien and Jean Tay as they talk about the arduous yet rewarding creative process of taking their ideas from script to stage.  How does it feel to let it all go, and leave one’s text in the hands of directors.

 

Panel: Writing Gleefully

Jonathan Lim, Prem Anand and Mr Brown uncover the magic behind creating laugh-out-spoofs with the creators of Chestnuts, The Noose and the popular Mr. Brown.

Lesslie Tay, Sylvia Tan and Brad Lau (Lady Iron Chef) weigh in Singapore’s primary passion, the role of the critic and where they see the nation’s food culture heading.

 

Panel: Growing Up is Tough – Or is It?

5.30pm to 6.30pm at The Salon at National Museum of Singapore | Festival Pass

Monique Truong, Mike Foley and Ahmad Fuadi deliberate about childhood as a rich source of literary inspiration as they share their popular coming-of-age stories, shaped by growing pains, family ties and first loves. Moderated by Neil Humphreys, author of the new book ‘Return to a Sexy Island’ which SUPERADRIANME.com is giving away.  See the end of this post for more details.
