The Fashion Seasons

shutterstock_Seasons

Seasons come, and seasons go.

But in the phenomenon that is Singapore – autumn, winter, spring, summer blow in and blast out with such regularity, one can blow hot and cold all in the same day.
I speak of the A/W 2013 and Primavera/Estate 2014 (sorry, showing off, that’s autumn/ winter and spring/summer) fashion events going on throughout this city state; in a bid for your coin, so you’ll ever be “au courant” (oh dear, bragging again, that’s to be “in the know”).

It was in this mode we at SUPERADRIANME.com chased hither and yon to bring you what’s down in skirts and up in shirts, what’s hanging in bags, and strutting in shoes.

Fide Fashion Weeks

Rain at Fide Fashion Week

Fittingly on the subject of seasons, the outlook is RAIN, who causes a typhoon when he makes land and at FIDe Fashion Weeks (yes, FIDE has downsized its E to e, don’t ask Y or y) Rain will perform the night of the MCM show.

MCM is the former German leather goods company bought by a Korean company who has so cleverly refreshed the brand, it is now seen on the likes of Justin Bieber et al. So hurri(cane) down to MBS for your tickets, or at worse, catch Rain on the red carpet before the minders storm him off into Hall F for his show. Coupla other string of vowels (Korean stars) will also be lending their shine to the occasion.

MaxMara

While the main fashion event may be in Marina Bay Sands, the people in ION Orchard and Fullerton Bay Hotel have not exactly been idle.
MaxMara presents its Cube collection in the ION atrium. Anything but square, the Cube items are genuine objects of design backed by intensive research. They are designer down jackets in exclusive fabrics in neutral shades to keep you warm and stylish and best of all, light.

MaxMara has done its homework, combined the parka and the trench, added versatile accessories – bling and/or fur – to cuffs and collars and belts and there you go. And it can be scrunched and packed in a cube for easy travel. Shake out your Sarah Jessica Parker. She famously wears hers in the streets of New York.

MODAJAR

Did you know the Fullerton Bay Hotel has three ports of call? Nifty room looking out on the water where you can have your own private intimate event.

MODAJAR, the global online shopping, held its sneak peak session here, to introduce its line-up of brands and labels. And they have a trunk-load, there is just about something for everyone, 20 designers so far, in a price range from $49 to $700.

Check out the site. One of Modajar’s partners, Ms Esther Wee, is the curator of the clothes and bags and shoes and bijouterie.

“In Singapore we have the mass produced and the luxury, I wanted something between those two.”

She comes from a retail background so sources every single item herself, paying keen attention to quality and detail. The bijouterie is exceptional, there’s an industrial design range, and an origami selection.

The One.T.Shirt line is great, you can wear your fave icon such as Anna Wintour and Amy Winehouse. One of the best bits of the site is its guide to sizes, from top to toe.
