Packing well is an art. Packing badly is how you end up sitting on your luggage at 1am, praying the zip survives.

For the longest time, we travelled with the largest clamshell check-in luggage because we were always worried there would not be enough space. It made sense for longer trips, especially when packing outfits, shoes, toiletries and the occasional “just in case” item that somehow always makes it into the bag.

But the problem starts when you check into a smaller hotel room. Opening a full clamshell luggage suddenly becomes a space-planning exercise. You are shifting chairs, squeezing between the bed and wall, and trying not to trip over your own suitcase.

That was why we started looking for luggage with more flexibility. We wanted something that still opens like a conventional clamshell when we need the full packing space, but also offers front access for tighter rooms, quicker packing and easier access to essentials. The Samsonite Paralux series fits that gap nicely.

Quick answer: The Samsonite Paralux series is useful for travellers who want the packing space of a clamshell suitcase with the convenience of front access. It works especially well for small hotel rooms, short business trips, multi-city travel and longer holidays where organised packing matters.

Use The 75cm Check-In For Your Main Wardrobe

The 75cm Samsonite Paralux check-in luggage works best as your main wardrobe for the trip. This is where I would pack the bulkier items, extra outfits, shoes, toiletries, jackets and anything I do not need immediate access to while in transit.

What I like is that the front access does not feel like a gimmick. It lets you get into the suitcase without having to fully open it flat on the floor. That is useful when hotel rooms are compact, or when you simply do not want your entire luggage exploded across the room.

My packing tip:

For shorter trips, stack your outfits by day or by occasion. Keep your first-day outfit, dinner outfit, and travel outfit in separate stacks or packing cubes. This way, you can see everything at one glance without digging through layers like you are searching for treasure.

For longer trips, pack the Paralux like a mini wardrobe. Instead of piling clothes on top of one another, fold and stack each outfit upright so everything is visible once the luggage is open. It saves time, keeps things neater, and stops you from messing up the whole suitcase just to find one T-shirt. Use the removable packing cubes for underwear, socks and smaller essentials, so the main compartment stays organised.

Pack By Outfit, Not Just By Category

Most of us tend to pack by category. Tops in one section, bottoms in another, underwear somewhere else, and then we spend half the trip trying to remember what goes with what.

With the Paralux, I found it more practical to pack by outfit. Keep a complete look together, especially for short trips, or work travel where you already know your itinerary.

Packing SectionWhat To Pack
Outfit stack 1First day clothes, underwear, socks
Outfit stack 2Dinner or event outfit
Outfit stack 3Casual day outfit
Packing cubeSleepwear, gym wear or swimwear
Side sectionShoes, laundry pouch or travel accessories

This makes unpacking faster and also helps you avoid overpacking. When you can see your outfits clearly, you are less likely to throw in five “just in case” shirts that never see daylight.

Use The Compression Panel and Packing Cubes Properly

The removable packing cubes and compression panel are one of the most useful features of the Paralux series. They help keep everything neat, especially when you are moving between cities or hotels.

One packing cube can be used for smaller items like socks, underwear, belts and accessories. Another can be used for T-shirts, casual wear or lighter pieces.

The clever part is that the compression panel can also be removed and hung up in the hotel room, so your essentials stay easy to reach. This is useful if you do not want to fully unpack, but still want your things to be organised instead of living out of a messy suitcase.

Keep The Cabin Luggage For Transit Essentials

The cabin luggage should not be treated like a mini version of your check-in luggage. It should work as your travel control centre.

Pack the things you may need before your checked bag reaches the hotel. That includes your laptop or tablet, chargers, adapters and cables, travel documents, medication, a change of clothes, basic toiletries, valuables and any must-have items you cannot risk losing.

The front flap on the cabin luggage is especially practical here. You can reach for smaller essentials without opening the whole luggage in public. Leave the cabin luggage on its wheels and conveniently unzip the front flap. That is useful at the airport, on the plane, or when you need to quickly grab something at the hotel lobby.

What I Would Pack In The Cabin Bag

Cabin Luggage SectionSuggested Items
Front pocketPassport, travel wallet, boarding passes, power bank, cables
Laptop or tablet areaLaptop, tablet, documents, camera accessories
Main compartmentOne change of clothes, sleepwear, light jacket
Small pouchMedication, skincare, toothbrush, cables
Valuables sectionCamera, jewellery, tech accessories

This way, even if your check-in luggage arrives later than expected, you still have the basics to freshen up and continue with your day.

If you like your luggage with a bit more personality, Samsonite is introducing a new Dusty Pink colourway on 6 July 2026.

The Dusty Pink Paralux Spinner gives the series a softer and more stylish look, without making it too loud. The muted tone still feels versatile enough for city escapes, business trips and longer holidays. It also helps your luggage stand out on the carousel, so you spend less time playing “is that mine?” with every black suitcase.

The Paralux Spinner in Dusty Pink will be available from 6 July 2026, priced from S$370 to S$530, at Samsonite retail stores in Singapore and online.

“At Samsonite, we believe innovation should make travel smarter, simpler, and more meaningful. Paralux reflects this commitment through thoughtful design, practical functionality, and responsible craftsmanship. With the introduction of Dusty Pink, we are extending the appeal of the collection with a modern and sophisticated expression, while staying true to what defines Paralux – exceptional performance, versatility, and enduring quality for today’s traveller.”
