If China is on your travel radar, there’s a new reason to spend there. UOB and UnionPay International have teamed up to launch SplendorPlus, a cashback campaign giving UOB UnionPay cardholders up to 5% cashback on eligible purchases in Mainland China.
Travel between Singapore and China is rebounding strongly. Changi Airport reported a 15.8% year-on-year jump in passenger traffic between Singapore and China in Q2 2025. That’s nearly triple Changi’s overall growth of 5.9%.

What is SplendorPlus?
SplendorPlus offers a straightforward structure. Cardholders receive a base 2 per cent cashback on all eligible local and overseas retail purchases with no minimum spend. When they spend in Mainland China, they earn an additional 3 per cent cashback, bringing the total to as much as 5 per cent. Transactions must be processed directly via the UnionPay network to qualify. Purchases made through third-party mobile payment platforms such as Alipay or WeixinPay are excluded.
How Much Cashback Can You Get?
The campaign applies to both in-store and online spending, allowing travellers to enjoy savings whether shopping, dining or making digital purchases. A cap of S$50 cashback per card per month applies. It works in two parts:
- Base cashback: 2% on all eligible local and overseas retail purchases (no minimum spend needed) for UOB UnionPay cards.
- Bonus cashback: Additional 3% when you spend in Mainland China (in-store or online), processed via the UnionPay network. But note: transactions via third-party mobile wallets (Alipay, WeixinPay) are excluded.
How to Get Started
- Check if your UOB credit/debit card is a UnionPay card.
- Before travelling or buying online in China, make sure the merchant accepts UnionPay and the transaction will be processed via the UnionPay network.
- Keep track of your monthly spend so you don’t lose out because of the S$50 cap.
