Second edition of the Weekend Peranakan Afternoon Tea with Candlenut returns to One-Ninety Bar until 28 July 2024

Four Seasons Hotel Singapore’s collaboration with Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant Candlenut has returned to One-Ninety Bar with the Weekend Peranakan Afternoon Tea after its introduction in 2021. The Weekend Peranakan Afternoon Tea is available at One-Ninety Bar on Saturdays and Sundays, 2pm – 5pm until 28 July 2024.

Enjoy sweets such as Candlenut’s signature Kueh Salat and Cassava (Tapioca) kueh. The Kueh Salat made its debut in 2015 and features a smooth pandan-coconut custard atop a glutinous rice cake infused with fresh blue pea flowers. The Cassava Kueh spots a layer of caramel custard with a glossy thin layer of caramelised sugar. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore’s Executive Pastry Chef Audrey Yee serves up a delightful Kaya Coconut Cake, Cempedak Crème Brûlée and Pulut Hitam Rice Pudding dessert made with black glutinous rice and coconut milk. Sink your teeth into freshly baked Rempah Udang scones accompanied by a house-made pineapple jam and clotted cream.

Candlenut’s Chef Malcolm Lee’s Mom’s Curry Chicken with Prata and other highlights such as the Boston Lobster with Achar Bun, King Salmon Otak and Chef Lee’s Laksa Crab Cake are some of the savoury highlights.

Peranakan-inspired craft cocktails - Straits Old Fashioned (Left), Chendol (Centre) and Little Nyonya (Right)

Beverage Manager Gabriel Carlos and Head Bartender Sophia Kang have concocted three locally-inspired craft cocktails. Straits Old Fashioned is a take of the classic cocktail and contains Michter’s American whiskey, coconut ginger, spices, and lime bitters. Chendol is a take of the traditional dessert with a blend of velvety coconut cream, Engenho da Vertente Cachaça, Koko Kanu coconut rum, azuki red beans, lime juice and pandan. The Little Nyonya is made with Ocho Blanco tequila, pink guava, makrut lime leaves, white cardamom, jasmine and soy milk. Cocktails are priced at S$27 each.

If you prefer bubblies, the Taittinger champagne-tasting flight lets you explore the Brut Reserve, Prestige Rosé and a Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blanc. They are also available by the glass starting from S$29.

Complete the afternoon with the Candlenut signature tea blend – an exquisite blend of oolong and butterfly pea flower with fragrant notes of jasmine and pandan, a fine selection of specialty teas or coffee freshly brewed.
