Buffet Alert: Si Chuan Dou Hua’s Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet

Si Chuan Do Fu - Giant Deep-fried Sesame Ball

5 September 2012, Singapore – Si Chuan Dou Hua in Parkroyal hotel on Kitchener Road celebrates its one-year anniversary with a nostalgic dim sum buffet lunch at only S$25++ per person (minimum 4 persons). This buffet lunch promotion is doing so well that Si Chuan Dou Hua has decided to extend it till the end of September.

The ala carte buffet features a wide selection of 50 items, conceptualised to trigger memories of the past, from the time when dim sum was first introduced in Guangzhou in the 18th century. It also includes dishes that some might remember from their childhood days in Singapore. The spread covers cold appetizers, barbecued items, soups, steamed and fried dim sum, porridge, rice, noodles, and some special chef’s selected dishes, plus desserts.

Si Chuan Do Hua - Dim Sum

Start with the barbecued items of Soya Chicken, Honey Glazed Char Siew and Crispy Roasted Pork. You only get one serving of these barbecued meat. If you need more appetizers, there is a cold appetizer selection with dishes like Smoked Fish with Mixed Spices and Marinated Rice Noodle with Shredded Duck. For soups, try the Sichuan Hot and Sour Soup or ask the waiter for their Soup of the Day.

Then move on to the main fair – dim sum. The Char Siew Bun with Preserved Vegetable gives you your char siew bao fix, but with the enhanced taste from the preserved vegetable. Another bun that would literally get your heart beating faster is the Steamed Bun with Lard and Fig Fruit. Put aside that diet for the day and savour this sweet and juicy bun. It is worth every bite. Another porky delight would be the Pork Belly Roll with Taro and Chinese Mushroom. The yam and mushroom balances the taste of the pork well and gives it an interesting aftertaste.  A must-try sweet would be the Deep-fried Peanut Cake in “Teochew Style”.

The dim sum should sufficiently fill you up but if you need added carbohydrates, there is Minced Meat Porridge, Rice Noodles with Roasted Duck, Beef Brisket Noodle Soup or Casserole Rice dishes with Sliced Pork with Salted Fish or Spare Rib with Preserved Vegetable.

Leave space for dessert. For a visual feast, order the Giant Deep-fried Sesame Ball. Other desserts include the HoneyComb Cake topped with Chrysanthemum, the Almond Cake with Mango Sauce and the refreshing Homemade Bean Curd with Wolfberry.

Nostalgic Dim Sum Buffet Feast  – Available now till 30 September 2012 for lunch only from 11.30am – 2.30pm daily.  Minimum 4 to dine at S$25++ per adult | S$16.80++ per child.  Reservations highly recommended. Please call +65 6428-3170.
