Singapore homegrown brand mc.2 has been acquired by Hunter Douglas, the global window coverings leader operating in more than 100 countries, marking a major milestone for a local company that began as a small electronics retailer at Funan Centre in 2004.

Founded by 51 year-old Wilson Chew, mc.2 started out selling electronics products and accessories before reinventing itself after around 13 years in business. Facing stronger competition from major brands and e-commerce, the company shifted its focus to a more specific consumer problem in Singapore, underused balcony spaces affected by heat, monsoon rain and humidity.
That pivot led mc.2 to develop what it positioned as Singapore’s first locally researched and manufactured outdoor zip blind system, built for local high-rise living and tropical conditions. The brand later expanded beyond product sales into customer experience. In 2018, mc.2 opened Singapore’s first smart blinds and curtains fashion gallery in Ubi, a 4,200 sq ft showroom designed to let homeowners experience the full range in person.

More recently, mc.2 introduced the MAGNAZip+ system, featuring patent-pending magnetic anti-crease technology and an eight-year warranty. Its portfolio now includes window solutions, balcony solutions, wall solutions, flooring solutions and wall coverings.
The acquisition by Hunter Douglas comes as mc.2 marks its 22nd year in business. For Chew, the deal represents a defining moment for the brand and a chance to raise the standards of window furnishings in Singapore with Hunter Douglas’ global expertise behind it.
