Guide to choosing a new Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera

March 2011, Singapore – Last month, Sony South East Asia announced twelve new Cyber-shot Digital Cameras at the Sony: Inspiring Innovation event.   With such a wide range of cameras and models, many people usually get confused.    Do not be intimidated by the overwhelming choices of Cyber-shot cameras available. We are here to help you choose the right camera that suits you best.

Sony Cyber-shot cameras are categorized into 5 series designed for specific consumer groups. Here are some pointers when choosing a Sony Cyber-shot camera:

  • T Series : “Stand out from the crowd with Style”, stylish, slim and made for the cool & hip crowd
  • W Series : “Exciting features for every occasion” slim and practical model
  • H Series : “High performance with incredible imaging quality”, longer zoom range, better lens for image clarity, great flexibility. With some functions similar to that of a DSLR less interchangeable lenses, this will be a great choice
  • S Series : “Compact, easy to use and affordable” for those who just need a point & shoot camera at affordable prices
  • J series : This brand new series boasts an “Easy to share” capability with built-in memory and USB connector
  • Models with an “X” such as the HX9v, WX7 or TX10 indicate that they are using Sony’s “Exmor R” CMOS sensors.  This sensor provides a faster image processing 10 frames per second  (fps), excellent lowlight performance and FULL HD video recording at 1080 pixel and 60 fps
