Today seems to be a busy news day. Two telcos StarHub and Singtel have made announcements today. StarHub signs MOU with Singapore Press Holdings for more collaborations while Singtel announces IDA MyConnection SG network speed and coverage results.
StarHub Signs MOU with Singapore Press Holdings
StarHub has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore Press Holdings to collaborate in areas such as advertising sales, creation and carriage of content, data analytics and marketing. As part of the MOU framework, both parties are already planning several new initiatives including joint campaigns to benefit SPH and StarHub customers and collaborations to bring richer content across each partner’s media platforms.
Both parties have been collaborating for over a decade. In 2003, they jointly launched the SARS Channel together with Mediacorp. In 2005, SPH was also a content partner for StarHub’s i-mode service. Since 2013, both comapnies have been collaborating on the annual Ge Tai Star Awards. SPH organises the awards and StarHub films and airs on its Hokkien channel. In August last year, both companies collaborated for an eight-episode “Ministerial Coffee Talk” where SPH produce the talk show and was aired over StarHub TV.
Singtel Tops IDA’s MyConnection SG Peak Speeds and 4G Service Coverage Results
IDA just released its MyConnection SG crowdsourcing survey and 4G Mobile Service coverage results revealing Singtel is offering the fastest and widest 4G experience in Singapore. Singtel recorded 4G peak speeds at 130.8Mbps and 3G peak speeds 31.2 Mbps and 99.87% National Outdoor Service Coverage.
Singtel topped the nation’s widest 4G outdoor coverage chart for the fifth consecutive quarter (Q4 2014 to Q4 2015) and is set to raise the bar for 4G indoor coverage with its nationwide deployment of a 4G LTE network on 900MHz spectrum band by end March 2016. A consumer favourite, it also won HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards 2016: Readers Choice accolades for Best Telco (Singapore) and Best Fiber Broadband Service (Singapore).
