Yahoo Acquires Aviate and Introduces New Products

Yahoo acquires Aviate. The contextual Android launcher offers the Aviate Beta app now for the first 25,000 people who download the app in the Google Play store with the code “YAHOO”. Yahoo plans to make this technology a central part of its Android based experiences this year and will continue to develop the product.

Aviate auto-categorises apps on the Android phone and intelligently gathers them into “spaces”. It evaluates you the way you use your Android device using signals such as WiFi, GPS, Accelerometer or Time and automatically surfaces information at the moment it is useful. It learns your digital habits and helps anticipate information and apps you need, somewhat similar to Google Now.  Download Aviate Beta from Google Play here.

Also announced at CES 2014 in Las Vegas yesterday, Yahoo also launches Yahoo New Digest, Yahoo Food and Yahoo Tech, Yahoo Smart TV and a new Yahoo Advertising.
