Scoot to Fly Dreamliner This November

SCOOT - Boeing 787

Low cost carrier Scoot is expecting its first of 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in November this year. Operating for just over 1 1/2 years, the airline has a fleet of six aircraft flying over two million guests to 13 destinations. In late 2011, parent company Singapore Airlines handed over 20 787 aircraft to Scoot, converting the order to ten 787-9 and ten slightly smaller 787-8. The aircraft is being configured for the medium haul and offers a fuel-burn saving of around 20% per seat. Scoot will be the first Singapore airline to fly the 787 series.

Scoot will be the first Singaporean airline to fly the 787 series and the second operator of the 787-9 after launch customer Air New Zealand. Other airlines introducing the 787-9 into their fleet include AeroMexico, Air Canada, Air China, Air France, Air Lease Corp, All Nippong Airways, American Airlines, Arkia Air, Arik Air, Aviation Capital Group, Boeing Business Jets, British Airways, Etihad Airways, ILFC, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, KLM Group, Korean Air, LAN Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, United Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

The 787-8 is expected to be delivered in mid 2015 and has a lower seating capacity of approximately 330. The new aircraft will be deployed to Japan, Australia and Taiwan initially and it expects all its flights to be operated by 787s by mid 2015 while the current 777 fleet will be progressively retired by mid 2015 as the new aircrafts are delivered.
