BookFest@Singapore 2014 returns to Suntec Singapore from 12 to 21 December 2014 in its eighth year. Organised by POPULAR, this year’s theme “Read on, Dream on” encourages reading without boundaries and opens the mind to limitless dreams and possibilities.
You can expect new book and product releases, educational talks as well as appearances by local and overseas authors as well as guest celebrities.
This year is also POPULAR’s 90th Anniversary. To commemorate this significant milestone, there will be an exhibition highlighting the Group’s milestone over its 90-year journey. Chou Sing Chu Foundation will also be making its inaugural participation in this year’s festival by taking book lovers on an exciting journey through its “iremember” gallery as part of the Singapore Memory Project.
BookFest@Singapore 2014 Highlights
The Journey Colouring Contest – Held on 12 December from 1 to 4pm, this large-scale colouring contest is based on the hit TV series The Journey: A Voyage. Children aged 7 to 9 years old can sign up to participate. Register at a fee of S$5 at POPULAR’s bookstores or website before 5 December 2014. Top 20 winners win POPULAR Gift Vouchers and attractive prizes.
POPULAR Readers’ Choice Awards Ceremony 2014 – Held on 13 December from 11am to 1pm, POPULAR honours thirty local authors and their works. They have been nominated for the Readers’ Choice Awards and readers can vote for their favourite authors in various categories. Themed “Read to Vote, Vote to Win”, 50 lucky voters will walk away with POPULAR Gift Vouchers worth S$50 and a one-year POPULAR Card membership each.
“Chef Wan’s Cooking Challenge” – Held on 14 December from 11am to 1pm, POPULAR is holding a cooking challenge in line with Dato’ Chef Wan’s first Malay cookbook 400 Resipi Rerbaik. Compete dishes based on the nine recipes found in his latest cookbook. Chef Wan will be present to judge. Preliminaries will be held on 15 November at One KM Mall (the former Lion City Hotel). The top three winners will stand to win cash, attractive prizes and an exclusive dinner with Chef Wan himself.
