Crabs have always been a delicacy left to special occasions; no thanks to its unattractive price tag and less-than-honest establishments. Fans of the seafood can now dine, while keeping your wallets safe and sound, at the Crazier about Crabs buffet at Brizo Restaurant & Bar at Park Hotel Clarke Quay (next to UE Square) from the 1st April to 28th June 2015.
The buffet features a spectacular array of 22 tantalizing crab dishes, from the standard crispy Fried Soft Shell Crabs, Crabmeat Kueh Pie Tee, Premium Crabmeat Fried Rice with X.O. Sauce, to, the local tze char favourites of Black Pepper, Salted Egg Yolk and, needless to say, Chilli Crab with Fried Man Tou!
The Heavenly Fragrance Crab was the crowd favourite, as it brought together the mild-mannered spice of Black Pepper with the fragrance of curry leaves and the added spice of the bird’s eye chillies.
My personal favourite was the Salted Egg Yolk Crab, where sauce was definitely finger licking good. I gave up on using the gloves they provided and went in straight for that gooey golden goodness. It seemed like I was not the only one as I caught the chef rushing in and out of the kitchen with a fresh wok of the crabs, only to be cleaned out moments later.
The Chilli Crab Pasta is also a favourite of mine, in a comfort food sort of way. Usually, I would end up spending about S$20+ for a plate of this somewhere else, but here, it comes with the buffet, loaded with crabmeat in every bite. The only drawback was that the sauce was a little sweeter than I am used to.
To make things even more indulgent, they also have a Cooked To Order menu, including their What’s in the Pan overkill. Why do I say that? It is because it has a whole crab, prawns, clams, black mussels, potatoes, corn and jumbo sausages in three different sauces; the creamy Mariniere, aromatic Bouillabaisse and tomato-based Cioppino – all served with Steak Fries with a side of Brizo Signature Chilli Crab Sauce.
After you have loaded up on a whole lot of crab, you can refresh yourself at the salad bar and the sashimi corner for something lighter on the palette. Then again, if you really want bang for your buck, you can even find their Thai-based Fresh Crab Salad featuring chunks of crab meat dressed in a sweet Thai Chilli dressing. Or, if you’re looking for dessert, you will be happy to know that they have a fully equipped corner with Chocolate Fondue, Cakes, Durian Penyat and, even, Magnum ice cream bars!
What’s more, diners also stand a chance to win a weekend staycation at the very hotel by sharing your favourite crab dishes with the hashtag #crabbuffetatpark on Instagram. Sounds like a pretty good deal for anyone having a crustacean craving, or for those wanting to show out-of-town friends some of Singapore’s signature seafood dishes!
Brizo at Park Hotel Clarke Quay will be hosting the Crazier about Crabs buffet from the 1st April 2015 to 28th June 2015, on Wednesday and Thursday at S$68/34 (Adult/Child) or Friday to Sunday at S$80/40. They are located at 1 Unity Street, Singapore 237983; opposite UE Square, and you may make your reservations at +65 6593 8855.
