The Body Shop - Tea Tree

The hot and humid weather these days has left its mark amid the haze. Add a burst of freshness with The Body Shop’s new Tea Tree cool and creamy wash ($20.90) which contain anti-bacteria tea tree oil that helps to prevent blemishes and menthol leaving a cool sensation while the new Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub ($24.90) contains exfoliating micro fine beads that unclogs pores. The two new additions to the The Body Shop Tea Tree range will be out in stores from 11 July.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool and Creamy wash and The Body Shop Squeaky-Clean Scrub contain organic tea tree oil from Kenya which is steam-distilled from hand-picked leaves. Tea Tree oil is known for its anti-bacteria properties which fights against those pesky bacteria that causes blemishes. The Cool and Creamy Wash is also enriched with Community Fair Trade marula oil from Namibia and Community Fair Trade soya oil from Brazil which leaves skin soft and supple.

The Tea Tree oil used in The Body Shop products is sourced from the Kenya Organic Oil Farmers’ Association (KOOFA) which consists of 484 small-scale farmers. The Body Shop pioneered fair trade in beauty and stands by its commitment to Community Fair Trade which ensures small-scale farmers like those in the KOOFA receive a sustainable income through fair trading practices. The Body Shop’s Community Fair Trade relationships with partners across the world such as KOOFA ensures quality ingredients through sustainable farming practices and provides a sustainable income for small-scale farmers to have better access to education, healthcare and more.

Verdict: The cool and creamy wash lives up to its name and does not disappoint. The menthol leaves an invigorating scent and sensation while its creamy texture leaves my skin feeling hydrated. It feels like a mini face spa whenever I use this, perfect for the hot and humid climate that we live in. Those pesky blemishes did not surface in the couple of days that I had used this. I can’t wait to try out the Squeaky-Clean Scrub when it is made available.
