A Chorus Line Debuts In Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands on 4 May 2012


14 February 2012, Singapore – American Broadway musical A Chorus Line will debut at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands on 4 May 2012 for a limited season. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

The Plot

In an empty theatre on a bare stage, 17 dancers audition for eight stage roles in a musical. The chance of the lifetime audition is what they have worked work for. You can expect captivating songs, riveting drama and stunning choreography.

Australian Production

The Australian production is direct from Broadway and a US Tour. This production is directed and restaged by Baayork Lee, one of the original cast members from the Tony Award winning 1975 production.

Musical supervisor – Peter Casey from Jekyll & Hyde, Topol’s Fiddler On The Roof.

Producer – Tim Lawson and TML Enterprises (Topol’s Fiddler On The Roof, Shout! and The Rocky Horror Show).

  • Book written by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante.
  • Music by Marvin Hamlisch.
  • Lyrics by Edward Kleban.
  • Opened at the Public Theatre’s Newman Theatre in 1975.
  • Transferred to Broadway’s Schubert Theatre later that year.
  • Won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, nine Tony Awards, Including Best Musical, Score and Book, seven Drama Desk Awards and the New York Critics Circle Award.
  • 6137 shows performed over 15 years – the longest running American musical in Broadway history.
