6 February 2013, Singapore – The Japanese Doll festival of Hina-matsuri will be held in Liang Court from 15 February to 3 March 2013. This festival takes place annually on 3 March so that the daughters of the Japanese household can celebrate and be blessed with good health. Ornamental dolls dressed in costumes of the imperial court with the Emperor and Empress are displayed on shelves called “Hina-ningyo” at home
Enjoy the weekend activities such as kids’ sushi and origami-making workshops, traditional Japanese games and a ‘Girls’ party’. Other activities that you can expect include
- Emperor and Empress Origami Workshop for Kids – 23 February
- Hina-matsuri Sushi Making workshop for Kids – 23 February
- Tosenkyo – 24 February – Test your skills by tossing an open fan to hit a target about one metre away in this traditional Edo-era game
- Mega Chirashi zushi – 2 March – Join other shoppers in an attempt to build a mega-sized portion of this tradtional Japanese dish and set a “first in Singapore” record
- Girl’s Party – 3 March – Celebrate the actual day of Hina-Matsuri at the party for shoppers with performances by Ryna and The Sakura Band. Enjoy free samplings of traditional Hina-matsuri food and snacks and receive an exclusive Hina-arare (bite-sized Japanese crackers made from glutinous rice and flavoured with soy sauce) goodie bag. Free entry into the party if you come dressed in a yukata.
From 15 February, 2013, spend a minimum of S$150 at Liang Court of S$300 at Audio House and MEIDI-YA Supermarket) and redeem an exclusive Empress Onigiri Music Box which plays a Hina-Matsuri tune. You can also redeem for an exclusive invitation to the Girls’ Party on 3 March with a minimum spend of S$150.
