Riverdance is Back in Singapore till 12 December

Riverdance at Marina Bay Sands

30 November 2010, Singapore – I caught the opening show of Riverdance, The Farewell Tour today.   The cast would not be coming back to this part of the region again before heading off to the other parts of the world.   Incidentally it was also the first public performance to be held at the Marina Bay Sand’s Sands Theatre.

Even though Riverdance has been to Singapore 10 years ago, today was my first experience.  If you are not familiar with Riverdance, the show focuses on the evolution of Irish dance, capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures.  Riverdance evokes many sensory experiences including sight, sound and emotions.  I have to say these performers have to be rather fit and full of energy to do what they do on stage for almost 2 hours!   There was so much energy, I wanted to jump up and dance while watching the performance.

The opening act immediately brings me back to a white Christmas during my good old school days in the US.  To me, Christmas has arrived earlier this year.  First it was the Orchard Road light up 2 weeks ago, the subsequent Hippo Ride with Canon last weekend, and the many Christmas festive hotel promotions that have recently been uploaded onto SUPERADRIANME.com.  The women came onto the stage dressed in Green and Red looking like Santarinas.

The crisp angelic voice during the acapella segment blew me away.  Look out for that!!

The 4 person musician team were simply amazing.  With the only lady in the team supporting on violin, I was amazed with the resulting audio experience that these 4 talented people could produce.
